The RB26DETT from the R32/R33/R34 GT-R is one of the most desirable engines in the world. It is smooth, exotic, sounds incredible, and with a big single turbo will run sub-10 second quarter miles. It is also one of the most expensive and complex swaps you can attempt.
Sourcing: RB26DETT engines from R32 GT-Rs are the most common import — expect $4,000–8,000 for a running core depending on condition. R33 and R34 spec engines command a premium. Always inspect for blow-by, check compression, and verify the twin-cam timing has no slack.
The stock twin turbo setup (RB-26 ceramic turbines) are fragile and expensive. The first upgrade most builders make is a single turbo conversion using a GT3582, Garrett G35-900, or Precision 6266 on a quality single turbo manifold from CXRacing or Garrett. Budget $3,000–5,000 for a quality single conversion.
Crank trigger: The RB26 uses a crank angle sensor that needs proper signaling with standalone ECUs. The Trust CAS trigger kit or a Link ECU crank trigger kit solves this cleanly.
ECU: The NZEFI Link G4X RB26 specific plug-in or the Haltech Elite 2500 are the top choices. The HKS F-CON V Pro is a classic choice for purists. All three support full RB26 features including individual cylinder trim.
Fuel: At 500whp you need 1,000cc injectors minimum and a dual Walbro 450 setup. The RB26 fuel rail takes 6 large injectors — budget accordingly.
