Upgrades Guide

The Corvette is already one of the most capable sports cars on the planet. These upgrades push it further — for the street, track, and everything in between.

The C7 and C8 Corvette represent two completely different engineering approaches — front-engine pushrod V8 versus mid-engine flat-plane V8 — but both respond well to the same core upgrade categories. This guide covers every meaningful upgrade, from the first bolt-on to a full track-day build, ranked by real-world impact.

Wide tire fitment is a special strength of both platforms. The C8's staggered 245/35R19 front and 305/30R20 rear setup leaves minimal room for street-legal upgrades, but the track-prepared Z06 235/30R20 front and 305/30R20 rear configuration is more flexible. We cover both in the fitment guides below.

Cold Air Intake & Tune

The LT1 and LT2 in the C7 and C8 Corvette respond well to a quality cold air intake paired with a custom tune. Gains of 15–25 hp are typical on naturally aspirated builds. The C8 Z06's flat-plane V8 is especially responsive to intake work.

Brakes & Brake Cooling

Track-day Corvette owners regularly overheat stock brake fluid. Upgrade to DOT 5.1, high-temp pads, and brake ducting for sustained track use. The C7 Z06 Brembo package is excellent — it just needs high-temp fluid and pads to operate at its potential.

Suspension & Alignment

The Corvette's Magnetic Ride Control is calibrated conservatively from the factory. Coilovers or Magnetic Ride corner modules combined with a proper track alignment (-2.5° to -3° front camber) transform cornering performance and tire wear on wide staggered fitments.

Cooling System Upgrades

The mid-engine C8 runs hotter than the front-engine C7 in prolonged track sessions. An auxiliary oil cooler, upgraded coolant, and radiator flush are critical for track-day owners. Supercharged C7 Z06 owners should prioritize intercooler heat soak management.

Taking Your Corvette to the Track

The Corvette is uniquely well-suited for track days right from the factory — especially with the Z51 and Z06 packages. But sustained high-RPM sessions expose the same thermal weaknesses as any performance car: brake fluid, oil temperature, and coolant. Prep those three before your first session and you'll have a dramatically more reliable experience.
